Bob Otte - Principal
It is hard to believe that I will be starting my ninth year as principal of St. Barbara’s Catholic School.
Each year brings new challenges as we compete in an arena where school enrollments continue to show decline.
We, however, over the past three years have held our own in enrollment actually showing increases at some grade levels.
For example, this year’s eighth grade is the largest class since 2002 and next year’s eighth grade enrollment hasn’t seen higher numbers since 2003.
Staying focused and motivated to perform at your best is not just something we preach to our student.
Our teachers including myself look at continuing one’s education as a necessary requirement in keeping up with the ever changing demands of a technology driven society.
Over the past 8 years I have completed 15 hours of course work at Walsh University concentrating on religious studies so as to effectively administer a Catholic school.
I have also taken advantage of opportunities to increase my knowledge of technology by having attended workshops offered by Western Reserve (45/49)
and in 2004 completed a year long program sponsored by Ohio’s Department of Education with funding from the Bill Gates Foundation.
Outside of the school setting I enjoy travel, biking and generally almost any type of activity where I get to spend time out of doors.
My wife, Laura and I both share a love of the outdoors and we not enjoy taking our four grandchildren on some of our summer
camping adventures, a love which we enjoyed sharing with our three daughters as they were growing up. |
