Dress Code Information

UNIFORM DRESS CODE

Boys and Girls:

Slacks, walking shorts and solid colored skorts: Uniform cotton blend or corduroy in solid navy, black or khaki. The solid skorts and walking shorts may only be worn from May 1st to October 15th. The only skorts permitted to be worn from Oct. 16 th through April 30 th are the uniform plaid. The length of shorts, skirts and skorts need to be reasonable and not distract from the learning process. Pants with belt loops must be worn with a belt in navy, black or brown that fits the belt loops.

Shirts: long or short-sleeved polo style, collared cotton blend dress-style, or turtlenecks in solid white, black, red, navy, pastel blue and pastel yellow are permitted. Shirts may have the school logo if desired. Shirts are to be tucked in.

Sweaters: V-neck or crew neck, cardigan, pullover, or vest in solid white, black, red or navy. Sweaters may have the school logo if desired.

Sweatshirts: Solid red or black (they must have a school logo on them).

NO HOODIES PERMITTED.

Socks: (and tights for girls) Solid colors only in white, black, red or navy.

Shoes: Any shoe that fits securely on the foot ( laces must be tied ) and that is in good condition is acceptable. This includes athletic shoes but excludes clogs and sandals. NO open toe or open heals permitted.

Make up and nail polish: Seventh and Eighth grade girls may wear light blush, lip-gloss and black or brown mascara. Girls in grades K-8 may wear clear nail polish.

Tattoos and body paint: NOT PERMITTED

Jewelry: Only girls are permitted to wear earrings. These are to be worn in the bottom lobe (with a limit of 2). Dangling earrings are unsafe and cannot be worn to school. Excessive jewelry is not permitted. (i.e. pant chains, more than 2 rings per hand, large rope or chain necklaces, etc.)

Hair: Students should keep their hair clean and combed/brushed. Hair must not exceed collar length for boys. No “tails” permitted. Hairstyles that prove to be disruptive to the school atmosphere such as, but not limited to, unnatural colors, spikes, Mohawks, or razor steps, drawings or lines, are not permitted.

Gum Uniform: First through Eighth grades: Plain black gym shorts, plain red T-shirt or red St. Barbara T-shirt, black or red sweatshirt and sweatpants, athletic shoes and socks as described above. NO HOODIES. The SBS gym uniform can be purchased through the school office.

Consequences for being out of uniform:

1st offense – verbal warning

2nd offense – written warning

3rd offense – detention (sent to principal)
