OCSAA Goals for 2008-09 - As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of education at SBS, our teachers will be working on two important goals, one related to our Catholic Identity and one related to Academic Performance: The Catholic Identity goal will target “Student Respect for Others” stated more simply as, “Students will improve in modeling Christ-like behavior in their relationships with others. Our theme to help us draw attention to this initiative will be “Character Counts”. A kick-off rally is being scheduled for Friday, September 19 at 1p.m. in the parish life center. A professional, inspirational speaker from the Pittsburgh area will both entertain and motivate students to get involved with this initiative. This assembly is open to all parents who are interested in learning more about the program. The Student Performance goal will target “Math Skills across the Curriculum” focusing on helping students to better understand Math concepts, improving their ability to compute, and improving their ability to use math in related fields. A variety of new educational materials will be examined and some implemented on a trail basis in select grades in an effort to reach our goal. With our state of the art technology in all classrooms, some of the new materials will come to us directly over the internet from websites aimed at improving academic achievement. (The OCSAA initiative is part of our membership in the “Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association”, a statewide organization aimed at improving the quality of education in all of Ohio's Catholic schools. We are a proud and active member of this association having recently earned accreditation status in May, 2007) |
