Life in Africa-Not so Foreign

Life in Africa-Not so Foreign … Students in several grades learned quite a bit about a small nation in Africa, not from the textbook but from a personal visit by two people who have experienced the small country of Botswana first hand.

Lisa Lopez Levers, PhD Professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and Mogakolodi Nelson Boikanyo, a photojournalist from Botswana, shared with the students information about the people, the culture and the land. Using a PowerPoint presentation along with information obtained directly over the Internet, both presenters were able to provide St. Barbara students with a glimpse of an African nation not normally found in today ' s newspaper headlines. Lisa Lopez Levers is the daughter of Robert and Gloria Levers, members of our parish, and is a personal friend of St. Barbara students Abby and Todd Kasunick.
